Baltimore, Father's Day, and Poor Snoopy

Last Saturday we headed up to Baltimore for their Sailabration festivities at the Inner Harbor. They had lots going on in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. We could see the Blue Angels doing an airshow in the distance, we toured one of the many huge old-style ships docked, watched a break-dancing show, and found some kid activities in various tents with stuff for Karina to do.

Walking along Baltimore's Inner Harbor:

Here she is destroying the Lego creations other people had made. She hasn't figured out how to put blocks together, just how to rip them apart. Destruction is fun:

We toured a Mexican naval ship docked at the harbor. The ship was in fact from Mexico, complete with a Mexican crew. There was also a Brazilian ship, a pirate ship going around, and others. In the distance to the left you can see how crazy the crowds were.

Karina made her debut wearing the camouflage skirt Nate insisted she needed. He was upset we didn't get any clear shots accenting the skirt. Maybe next time :-)

The next day, Father's Day, was pretty low key. Nate got pancakes for breakfast, a steak dinner, and homemade chocolate mousse for dessert. It was a good time. Happy Father's Day to Karina's favorite daddy!

Most every night, Nate and Karina play chase for a while. She definitely doesn't tire of it! I like this next picture because she is running at full speed with a big grin on her face.

When she finally caught Daddy, she tackled his foot so he couldn't escape:

A few nights ago, I decided we didn't have enough pictures of Snoopy and his cuteness. Here are a couple:

Then poor Snoopy had a traumatic and painful day today. While he was scratching his ear with his hind paw, the nail on his thumb toe got caught in part of his collar. It has happened before, and usually I just go and unhook his nail when he whimpers at me for help. Well today he was yelping at full strength and when I reached over to help him, his paw was loose from the collar because his entire nail ripped out. It was a literal bloody mess. It was a struggle to get the bleeding to stop, clean up the blood from all over the carpet, get him clean and bandaged, with Karina very upset about the situation too. Kind of gross, but this was what Noopy's paw looked like:

He is such a good patient though and politely lets me tend to his wounds. This was his makeshift bandage; he has a better one now:

The culprit nail:
