Lydia also got to sit in the cart with Karina at Costco as another milestone. Karina had been looking forward to this moment ever since Lydia was born. She would always point at the seat next to her in the cart and tell us that seat was for Lydia. Little Lydia didn't last that long in the cart though as she can't sit up by herself yet and this must have been tiring for her, even with the strap supporting her. I loved having extra space in the cart, as Lydia's car seat usually takes up half the cart.

Karina got to make a gingerbread house for the first time. The little thief kept trying to eat all the candy. She didn't think the best spot for the decorations was on the house.
A few days ago while I was cooking dinner, she came into the kitchen with a huge grin and a mouth full of treats; she had picked off all the gummies from the front of the house and stuffed them in her mouth. Needless to say, she thought her trick was clever and funny.
We went on lots of walks while Mormor and Morfar visited. The weather didn't cooperate most of the visit, leaving it unseasonably cold.
The neighborhood red barn is always a highlight, as are the horses there.
Timid Snoopy loves horses too and manages to be brave near them. Kind of strange because he never tries to approach other dogs this way.
We also got the Christmas tree up and decorated while my parents were still here. We decided not to put up lights outside this year because it would be too much work. It was easier in a townhouse where one strand of lights was sufficient. Karina had fun helping to decorate the tree.
It sure was great having my parents here with their extra set of hands to help out with the girls and around the house and Karina and Lydia had so much fun with them.
In other news, on Saturday, as Nate and I were heading upstairs to bed, Snoopy got excited and started dancing and jumping around. This isn't entirely unusual, since he gets to hunt some treats upstairs when we go to bed (one of the habits we have trained him to do so he goes to bed when we do). Anyway, during one of his jumps, he started yelping in pain and has been hurting ever since. At first, we thought he had hurt his leg or something, so we gave him a break from walks for a couple days, but he was still out of sorts this morning. Fortunately, because of the snowfall last night around here, everything shut down and Nate got the day off, so he took Snoopy to the vet this morning. The diagnosis is a herniated disc in his back, so Snoopy is on steroids and anti-inflammatory pain killers with orders to take it easy. Kind of hard, since he is used to jumping on couches, going on two walks a day, exploring the yard, and everything else - especially since he doesn't really know or accept his limitations. He is not allowed to use the stairs for 4-6 weeks. Here was our little patient in his sick bed on Sunday (fortunately he is looking better now):
