Photo Dump of Derek and the Girls

As promised in the last post, we had some more pictures to provide once we pulled them all from Mormor's camera.  The first pictures are from before Derek was born, and then there are some from after his birth, ending when Mormor flew home about a week ago.

Here's Lydia with her T-Rex.  Looks like she is trying to strangle it.

She has a cute smile.

Karina and I cuddling up on the couch.

Lydia being cute.

Tanja, Mormor, and the girls went to a playground during a nice day.  This was the morning before Tanja went into labor, so her last day pregnant. The girls like balancing on the wall.

Lydia being silly and having fun posing for the camera.

Then life forever changed the next morning when Derek was born. Here the girls are climbing all over Tanja in the hospital to greet their new baby brother.

Derek alert while being burped. His first few days he wasn't terribly active or alert, though he is spending more time awake now.

The girls thought it would be funny if Karina sat on Lydia's lap, while Lydia was sitting on her stuffed beagle Emma's lap (you can't see Emma, as she is being squished). Apparently, it was funny.

Then they pulled each other around the house on a blanket. Glad they are able to entertain themselves without breaking anything too valuable.

Lydia had fun playing dress-up.

Derek in the bouncer. Thus far, despite his calm expression in the picture, he hasn't really liked it. Karina enjoyed it when she was an infant and actually would sleep in it. I don't remember Lydia ever taking a liking to it either (though now she is interested and we have to disappoint her by telling her she is too big to sit in it).

Karina loves being a big sister and holding her baby brother.

Derek bundled up in his car seat, with a big yawn.

Mormor admiring Derek.

Mormor and Karina played countless games of Uno while she was here helping out.  Lydia would often participate too, recognizing and selecting cards to be played.

Derek really doesn't like having his diaper changed. Of course, once he has a clean diaper, he usually calms down. Like I keep telling him, 10 out of 10 babies agree, clean diapers feel better than dirty ones.

Derek is a big fan of Mommy.

We managed a decent family picture on our porch before Mormor left.

We brought Derek in for his one week checkup last Friday. He is doing well, his bilirubin levels (jaundice) were down, his collarbone has healed, and everything is fine health-wise. His collarbone hasn't bothered him at all, and we didn't need to do any follow-up with another x-ray as he has already healed.  He is a big baby statistically speaking. These are his 9-day vitals and their percentages.

22.25 inches long (a hair above the 99th percentile)
10 lbs 1 oz (96th percentile)
38 cm head circumference (98th percentile)

He measured shorter at the doctor's office than he did at the hospital.  At the hospital, his discharge weight was 9 lbs 11 oz, and so a week later he had finally started to regain all the weight he had initially lost (babies always lose weight the first few days of life).

We are all excited for this little guy to be part of the family!
