Derek loves to dress up. Since his older siblings are girls, we have a large supply of princess, fairy, and butterfly related dress up items. Derek of course doesn't know what items are supposed to be for girls or what is supposed to be for boys, so he just loves putting on anything from the dress up bin. I did get him some pirate and dragon dress up items for Christmas, and we already had a police officer outfit. He will probably be embarrassed by some of these pictures when he is older.

Derek dressed as Evil Emporer Zurg from Toy Story. I think this will likely be his Halloween costume this year. It is nice and warm.
Of course Derek is also handsome in his suit (he wore his matching jacket earlier in the day).
Lydia likes making music and playing too:
We went to Hershey Park on April 21st. The amusement park was closed to the general public, but various local employers had tickets available for their employees for Family Day events. It was a great park that we will likely go to every year now that the kids are older. Karina is tall enough to go on most roller coasters in the park, but wasn't interested. Nate will have to go by himself next time, instead of waiting for the kids to want to go with him on the scary rides. Besides the bumper cars, which Karina loves, all of the rides we went on were ones Derek could go on too - so basically toddler rides. The toddler rides were great though, and we all had a blast. Derek skipped his nap that day, and didn't have a melt down until 5:45 pm, and since the park closed at 6pm, it worked out perfectly!
My favorite ride is the Skyview, where you travel in a little gondola above the park.
The Ferris Wheel is another fun one for me and Nate with nice views. Lydia somehow managed to open the door of our car while the ride was going and gave us all a big scare.
Karina was tall enough to drive the speedway cars by herself, with no adult in the car. That was a milestone for her since she had to press the gas pedal and (sort of) steer. Nate got in trouble with the ride operators for stopping his and Lydia's car ahead of Karina to turn around and take a picture, but it was worth it.
Lydia loved this mini pirate ship ride that swings the ship from side to side, but Derek, as the picture shows, thought it was terrifying. This was their last ride of the day, so that probably weighed in on Derek's reaction. Nate probably should have separated the two of them and put Derek toward the middle of the pirate ship that wasn't swinging as high, but he had told Lydia that the ends were the most fun where you could swing super high and she wanted to sit there. Derek wanted to follow his big sister until the ride started. Karina and I were on the bumper cars at the time.
Derek had his meltdown at the very end of the day, but he was exhausted! Within a few minutes of getting in the car he had conked out. He fell asleep with a popcorner chip still in his mouth, not yet chewed. And that is where the chip stayed the whole 1 hr 45 minute drive home all because he was too tired to be bothered to finish chewing.
The day after Hershey Park, Karina turned 7 years old! We are so proud of her.
She requested cupcakes instead of a birthday cake.
The day after her birthday, Karina lost her front tooth. The previous week, the tooth was constantly bleeding. It was ready to come out, but she was afraid to pull it. She could move it nearly 90 degrees forward and back the whole week, and we were just waiting for her cute toothless grin. Her other front tooth will follow soon I think.
Karina and Snoopy love to cuddle. Snoopy thinks she is an excellent snuggler.
Nate found this picture from 6.5 years ago, when Karina was 6 months old. Then it was Karina was leaning on Snoopy instead of the other way around. Snoopy was a cuddle bug then too!
