Derek was upset that he had to get dressed up. To cheer him up and get him in the mood to smile for pictures, I told him he was Buzz Lightyear in disguise and had to go to an alien planet to defeat the Evil Emperor Zurg. Then we played Blast Off as he flew around the alien planet/front yard. It worked because he had a smile on his face by the time we were done.

Derek celebrated his fourth birthday and got lots of presents (with a very heavy Toy Story theme among many of them). It's hard to think that we don't have a little guy anymore. In the background is our new gas fireplace with a marble surround that we had just tiled and had tape still up to help hold the tiles in place.
Derek had been asking for a month or more when his birthday was going to come. The morning of his birthday, he was awake around 6 AM and running downstairs. He got big birthday hugs from everyone. He was hugging Lydia and Karina to say thank you for the presents they bought him (Toy Story 2 and 4 movies).

Tanja brought Derek's preschool class some cupcakes for his birthday snack and he was a very popular boy that day. He got a birthday crown to wear that he still puts on sometimes. After dinner at Chick-fil-a, we sang to him and he blew the candles out on his white chocolate mousse cake with crumbled Oreos (yum!).
Lydia and Derek play well together (most of the time).
I walked into the family room to find Snoopy buried under the couch pillows. Apparently, Lydia and Derek had decided that he needed his own house on the couch. He didn't seem to care at all. Like I said, he is so patient.
