Miami

During mid-August, the kids and I flew down to Miami to visit my parents.  In addition to playing piano every day, we also swam in their pool every morning and late afternoon/early evening. Their unheated pool was 90 degrees Fahrenheit most of the day.  At the end of our stay there had been a few days of afternoon rain, and the temperature had dropped a couple degrees and the pool felt cold when you first got in!  I much prefer a 90 degree pool.

Derek became quite the swimmer and gained a lot of confidence, swimming across the deep end (8 feet deep).

Karina and Lydia also took it upon themselves to be helpful teaching him to swim underwater.  They are experts and he loved being part of their group playing games underwater.

We had a lovely stay and wish we lived closer.

Here is Mimi giving Derek lessons on swimming on his back.  Below that, he is racing Karina across the pool.  He is still afraid to jump into the water, so that will be something to learn next summer.
