February-mid March 2024

Karina had a school dance and met up with some of her friends beforehand.

Lydia being silly giving Derek a piggy back ride.

We went to Great Wolf Lodge for the night one day when the kids were off school.  It was fun to swim there indoors while it was cold outside.  Since it was off-season, we got a good deal on one of their family suites where the kids had their own room with bunk beds decorated like it was a log cabin.

Derek being smiley in the basement (likely when we were trying to get him to practice his piano).

Karina entered another of her piano pieces to a contest. Here she is playing Sonata in D Minor, L. 422 by Scarlatti.

We went to the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum's annex to see the aircraft and spacecraft.  The kids wanted to sit in this Cessna and work the controls.

Karina played on a basketball team in a county league this winter.  Unfortunately there were only enough girls to fill two teams for her age group, so they ended up playing the same team every week.  I think by the end, the girls were tired of playing against the same team but they worked and played hard and definitely improved over the season.

Derek turned eight years old and was a very excited birthday boy.

We went to the National Aquarium as a family for his birthday.  The megalodon jaw is always a fun photo spot.

The Amazon section of the aquarium is also fun with many birds flying around.

More pictures of Derek being silly.

Lydia dressed up in her bunad for the school's International Night.

The kids dressed in their International Night costumes for the fashion show/parade.

Spring is a beautiful time with all the flowers in the trees, bushes, and ground.
