Family Reunion

This last weekend, we went to a family reunion in honor of my grandparents' 65th anniversary (yeah, a really long time). It was good to see my parents, brother, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. (along with their families). We kind of took over a park for potluck and running around with all the little kids and Snoopy with his cousin, Oliver (my brother Aaron and sister-in-law Allyson's cocker spaniel). Here's my grandpa pup-sitting and watching over the two:

After 65 years, my grandparents are still in love - even though Grandpa might have trouble reaching over to kiss Grandma's cheek ;-)

Here we are with my parents, my Grandpa, Aaron and Allyson, their little baby Russell (who we met for the first time on this trip), and of course, our incredibly fearsome and ferocious canines ;-)

The drive there and back, we went through the mountain passes of southwestern Colorado - some of the most beautiful country I have seen. Also some of the scariest roads. The road was incredibly windy and on the edge of steep canyon drops - without any guardrails. At times, around some of the curves, the speed limit on the US highway was 10 MPH. We didn't mind too much if it meant we could enjoy the view (although it did make for a longer trip). On the way back to NM, we took time to walk around. Snoopy was quite excited to get out of the car and stretch his legs instead of getting tossed around when the car went around a curve.

After all that driving around and visiting, Snoopy and I were exhausted (as you can see from this picture Tanja took in our hotel room). Notice the mile-wide grin on Snoopy's face - he just loves being cuddled!

  1. Great pictures! I would have loved to have been there. I had to laugh at the family photo with the dogs being held in the same way that Russell was! You guys are funny about your dog "babies". :) The pictures from your drive are gorgeous too!
