Santa Fe and Sandia Crest

Since there are so many Native American Pueblos here in New Mexico, we have been planning on going to an Indian Pueblo and buying a handmade piece of pottery there. This weekend we went to The Eight Northern Indian Pueblos Arts & Crafts Show, about 45 minutes north of Santa Fe, or 1 hr 45 minutes from here in ABQ. They had crafts being sold by the actual artist, dances, and food. Unfortunately nothing was in our $50 budget, especially the orange, black, and white pieces of pottery that we really liked (the black dye is made from spinach!), so we are still on the lookout for some sort of souvenir from our trip here. We didn't get any pictures there because a photo permit would have cost $10.

After the arts and crafts show, we headed down to Santa Fe. It was a lively fun town that we want to visit again. We saw the oldest house and oldest church in the U.S. (from the early 1600's). In the below picture I am standing by a large adobe building, typical of the architecture everywhere in New Mexico.


Then on Sunday afternoon we went to Sandia Mountain again (we went a few weeks ago), but found a different trail along the crest to hike. I think we hiked around 6 miles. The views were very pretty.

Nate found a tree with a hole in the trunk, and he thought he was being funny and cute :-)


On Friday we are going to the Grand Canyon (South Rim). It will be an exciting weekend.
