Nursery Preparations

Much of our life lately has been devoted to preparing for Karina to be born (understandably so). We have repainted her eventual room, and we already had all the furniture ready to go. We were however missing some artwork to fill the walls. We looked online for some inspiration, and after a few trips to Michael's, purchased some foam board, scrapbook pages, and other supplies. Then the work began.

We cut panels of the foam board, used acrylic paint to hide the edges of the foam board and create a shadow effect when they were hung, glued scrapbook pages onto the boards, and ultimately created this masterpiece.

We had enough foam board left over that we used the scraps to make this secondary piece.

The finished nursery:

We kind of stumbled into the decorating theme of animals, since the mobile had parrots, monkeys, etc. The sheets also had monkeys, giraffes, and other critters, so our artwork fits in well I think. Here is Karina's eventual crib with a blanket my mom made for her. This is where she will spend many quiet hours sleeping all the way through the night without waking up and crying or needing a diaper changed. At least that's my hope...
