Lydia had her 1 month birthday on Sunday and had to go to the doctor the next day for a check-up. She is now 10 pounds 6.5 ounces (up from 8 lbs 11 oz at birth), 22.25 inches (up from 21.5 in), and her head is 38 cm (up from 36 cm). All three numbers are around the 90th percentile. We keep referring to Lydia as being fat compared to Karina, but really Karina was long and skinny, whereas Lydia is big and proportionate:-) It will be interesting to see if she stays so high in the percentiles or not.
I like how Snoopy is vying for attention too:
Last Friday was "Cow Appreciation Day" at Chick-Fil-A, and anyone who dressed up like a cow got a free meal. We printed out three copies of their cow costume online and went and got some free meals. Karina was a little suspicious of dressing up at first, but she had a blast. She absolutely adores eating ketchup (with their chicken nuggets). It was kind of funny eavesdropping on the conversations of some of the other tables where the customers obviously weren't acquainted with the Cult of the Cow (Nate's term for the fans of Chick-Fil-A). A sample remark: "Why are so many people dressed like cows? They are starting to freak me out!"
A miniature photo shoot of Lydia, while she was awake and wide-eyed:
Yesterday morning we went to a special kid-friendly $1 showing of Happy Feet at a movie theater. It was Karina's first time at a movie theater as well as first time seeing an entire movie at all. It was fun, but she got a a little frightened during the scary parts (e.g. when the penguin was being chased and hunted by a seal).
Nate has started going to work again this week (3 days work and 2 days paternity leave this week). It was really hard walking Snoopy, Lydia, and Karina on Monday, but today went a little better. Anyone who has walked Snoopy will know how he pulls on walks, so it was no easy task, especially with Lydia wanting to suck on a finger too.
