Karina got to be the flower girl:-) We had practiced having her walk down the aisle by herself both on Friday and earlier in the day on Saturday, and she thought it was loads of fun. She did it repeatedly with a big smile on her face. She also practiced walking down the aisle with Marty's nephew, the 3-year-old ring bearer, Kade. When it came time for her to actually do her flower-girl duty at the wedding, it was of course much more scary, probably because of all the guests instead of empty chairs. In the picture below, the ring bearer had already made it to the front of the room and people were smiling at how cute Karina was being (i.e. she was timid and unsure of what to do). She had made it most of the way, but didn't want to go on. A few moments after this she did start crying for Mommy and I had to come in and rescue her (I was outside the room where I had been waiting with her, prepping her for the walk). If we had planned it better, Nate would have been in front of the room coaxing her on, but he was outside with a crying Lydia. Hopefully the guests and the couple of honor thought Karina's behavior was endearing.
Beautiful bride:
Just married in the photo below! Marty's dad is a Lutheran minister and married them. It was fun to listen to him put a few lawyer jokes and puns into the sermon, as both Nalina and Marty are lawyers.
Nate missed out on the actual ceremony because of Lydia's bad mood and had Lydia swaddled to calm her down. We eventually did take her out of the swaddle, just so we could get some decent family shots.
As the flower girl, Karina wore a lovely ivory dress, and we put Lydia in a white dress to have them match. I wish we had gotten pictures of just the two of them.
Some pictures from the dinner table, with Tanya and Antony:
Nate was dancing like crazy with Karina on the dance floor. It is one of the few times I have gotten a genuine smile from him on camera. Nate is carrying her in the first couple pictures, but later on she was dancing herself and having a blast late at night. She was bouncing and hopping to the music, to the amusement of all the onlookers.
Dancing with the bride:
Playing peek-a-boo with the bride:-)
Meanwhile, besides Lydia's crying during the actual ceremony, she slept during the entire dinner and though the dancing. She lay in the car seat next to the table, and stayed there the whole evening, fast asleep:-)
Congratulations Nalina and Marty!
