Fall Fun

September is nearly over. It's been a while since we wrote a post, but fortunately, we have been taking plenty of pictures of various outings and adventures. Karina has been on a bit of a silly streak lately and wants to be swaddled up like we do with Lydia. She pulls the blanket off the couch and wants to be "warm and cozy" (phrase from a book Grandma got her) and then rocked. What a silly girl. She also likes to swaddle her doll and then pretends to rock Dolly to sleep while saying 'sshh.'

We've enjoyed playing outside in our backyard now that the weather has cooled down. It's nice to have a yard that we can actually run around in at this house instead of the tiny patch of grass we had at our townhouse (you can see part of the fence we had installed in the background).

Snoopy really likes the yard too.  He usually spends at least an hour every afternoon exploring the yard and sitting and relaxing in a patch of grass.

Lydia is just happy to be wherever the action is.  Lydia is generous with her beautiful smiles.  Occasionally, she evens treats us to her giggles and laughter.

A few weeks ago, there was an International Night activity at church. Participants were asked to bring a dish from a country they had some ties to and were encouraged to wear clothes from that country as well. This was likely the last time for Karina to wear the bunad since it is getting a little small on her. The Norwegian waffles Tanja made up were a big hit, especially with the children at church. They had a toy car randomly hidden at church that Karina loved riding around. Of course, it also meant that instead of eating she was playing. Oh well.

One of the highlights of our twice daily walks around the neighborhood is seeing the nearby barn and horses. Karina always wants to go up and see them. We've brought them a few treats (with their owner's permission of course). Here are Karina and I feeding them some corn husks one evening.

Chick-fil-a had a free breakfast day, and we took advantage. Karina loved playing around in their play area.

Finally, here are a few more pictures we took playing around at home.

Their expressions in this last picture crack me up. We tried to get Karina to smile by telling her to laugh. We're happy anytime we can just get Lydia to look at the camera. The combination of the two was just too much in this shot.

  1. Lydia is changing so fast and I have seen Karina being silly first hand. Enjoyed the update.
