We were happy to have Mimi come visit a couple weeks ago. The girls were thrilled to have him here and enjoyed all the extra attention. After being mildly cautious the first couple of hours, Lydia warmed up to Mimi completely.
One day we went to the children's museum in Baltimore. Karina got to go 'grocery shopping' in one exhibit and scan the items for checkout:
Lydia hung out in the toddler section much of the time while Karina went to a class where she got to make chewing gum. Afterwards, Nate, my dad, and I split the gum Karina made, and it was disgusting (definitely not Karina's fault though). Lydia had fun collecting lots of balls and exploring.
One of the projects of the trip was replacing the ugly light fixture in our 2-story foyer. We rented a 14-foot step ladder from Home Depot for the job. and Nate and Mimi were brave to walk up that high. Lydia kept trying crawl though the railing to get to Mimi.
And then Lydia impressed us with her climbing abilities. She made it up 7 steps on the ladder before we decided she wasn't allowed up any higher. Nate was making sure she wouldn't fall, but he did not help her climb at all. She has no fear of anything and is proud of her feats.
On a whim, I got Karina a Halloween costume of Princess Anna from the movie Frozen. However, it has turned into just a regular dress for her because Karina seems to want to wear it everyday. I am hoping she will at least let me braid her hair like Anna on Halloween.
Lydia is an avid reader and loves to demand you read her a 'beh' (book).
Karina has been looking forward to receiving 'Molly' all summer. Molly is her Russian doll Dolly's sister. Karina named both Molly and Dolly. She was quite pleased when Mimi brought her from Tante Anne in Norway. We have to remind Karina that Molly is Lydia's doll and not hers, but for now, Lydia doesn't mind.
Mimi was happy to visit his granddaughters and they were happy to see him:
