The Fair

We have a ridiculous amount of pictures of Karina wearing this 'Cinderella' dress.  She is convinced of how gorgeous it is and always seems to want to take pictures when she puts it on.

We went mini-golfing a couple weeks ago - it was Karina's first time going and she was excited to try a new activity.  She had fun, and of course got a red golf club and red ball (her favorite color).

Lydia, on the other hand, had a horrible experience.  She was furious that everyone was playing with colorful clubs and hitting bright balls, but no one would let her play.  It was a challenge finding something fun for her other than trying to steal the golf balls and stand in the way.  Nate did manage to entertain her a while with this water feature though:

Last weekend we headed to the local Howard County Fair to see the farm animals, exhibits, and rides.  The girls got to pet sheep, goats, rabbits, chicks, ducklings, a donkey, and also see other types of animals like pigs and cows. Lydia especially liked the animals and bounced up and down, shrieking with excitement.

Karina's highlight of the fair was the play area filled with 6 inches of corn kernels and toys.  She had a blast running and jumping in it and throwing it in the air.

There was a also a rocking horse area and sand box filled with chicken feed:

Our little farmers like big machinery:

We also watched pig races and a duck race.  Karina was chosen from the audience to be a special cheerleader for the red duck.  Her job was to jump up and down cheering for the duck wearing a red scarf, while flapping her 'wings'.  She did a good job with it:-)

We still remember how much Karina hated going on an amusement ride a couple years ago, and knowing how cautious she is, we were nervous to let her try any rides this year.  First she chose to go on a race car ride that stayed on the ground and just went in circles.  She laughed and screamed with joy that she wanted to go even faster.

Next she decided on a race car ride that was similar to the first, but also went up and down in the air.  Somehow, this made a huge difference and the poor girl was shrieking and clinging for dear life.  After that, we decided that was it for rides.

Lydia has gotten two new teeth. Her upper left first molar popped through a few days ago, and today her bottom right one popped through.   Her other two first molars feel like they are about to join the others any day.  Poor girl has been in some pain because of it and has been a little cranky.

But at least she is stylish in her sunglasses and tutu:
