Our little munchkin Lydia has turned two. She likes to announce: "I'm not a baby. I'm a big girl." Karina has also agreed that now that Lydia is 2, she is in fact a 'big girl'.
Karina has added yet another princess dress to her collection - this one is Cinderella. Lydia seems to like to wear pretty dresses as well. She is also getting particular about what she wears everyday, often rejecting my choices in favor of her own (mismatched) pieces. It's pretty cute. The next outfit was one I got to choose though, but with Lydia choosing to add a necklace:
I continue to call Snoopy my 'baby wolf', much to Karina's annoyance. She keeps insisting that Snoopy is older than her, so Snoopy can't possibly be a baby. Since 4, her own age, is already a big number, then Snoopy's 10 is huge. He looked cute snuggled and hidden under a blanket:
Lydia got a strawberries and cream birthday cookie cake. She even managed to blow out her own candles, after 15+ tries. She didn't want to blow at first, but she commented that the lit candles were hot so Nate told her she needed to blow on it to cool it down. That gave her the motivation to attempt to blow out the candles.
Since she is only two, Karina was much more eager and excited to open up Lydia's presents than Lydia was. Lydia did get both fun and useful items, so I'll call it a success.

Nate recently uploaded some of the pictures from our phone to the computer. Usually if we take pictures on the phone, we forget they are there two minutes later. It was fun for us to look through them.

The next two pictures are from a birthday party we went to a while back. They had an elaborate moon bounce with a slide, that even Lydia was brave enough to try.
'Queen Elsa' from Frozen attended the party too, and this picture is of Elsa teaching a few of the girls to dance. You can see the back of Karina in the picture (in pink). The person who played Elsa looked the part, with her dress and hair. At one point during the party, since the day was so hot, Karina asked us in all seriousness why Elsa didn't just create some snow for us so it wouldn't be so hot. (If you haven't seen the movie, Elsa has magical ice/snow abilities.)
One of our summer activities this year has been that we joined Park Quest, a state parks program that allows us to visit parks across the state over the next couple of months, where there are special activities and tasks for kids to complete at each park to get a stamp in their park passport. These pictures are from Patapsco, where one of our tasks was to build an outdoor shelter from sticks. Karina and Nate worked hard:
The girls (meaning Karina) also decided they would be twins that day. They had on matching shirts and gray leggings.
Both Karina and Lydia like walking on our daily walks, instead of sitting in the stroller the entire time. Karina is very protective of Lydia, and makes sure she doesn't walk in the street without holding someone's hand, or ruin people's mulch, like in this next picture:
They are getting big. Happy birthday Lydia!
