Pumpkin Patch

We made a trip to a local farm to hunt down pumpkins for Halloween and to get out into the country. This place really catered to families with little kids. Here's Lydia riding around on a pedal powered tractor (though it was really hard to get it to go anywhere because of the lack of a paved riding area).

We took a tractor-pulled wagon on a hay ride out to the pumpkin patch. The girls loved it and we had fun too.

Once we got to the end of the hay ride, we had to get out and go through a corn maze. Really, it was just a path as there was only one way in and one way out - no turns or chances to get lost along the way. The girls learned where corn comes from and were excited to husk ears that they found laying on the ground.

The pumpkin patch was on the other side of the corn maze and the girls spent a lot of time making sure they found the perfect pumpkins (we each got one because of the package deal we got).

This past week, Lydia has kept repeating "I picked a good one!" She has taken very good care of her pumpkin, parading it around the house, though I am nervous that she will drop it and that it will break open.

Our tractor broke down (and the operator was not happy about it), so we wound up taking another tractor on a hay ride back to the main farm area.

Then it was time to see the animals. They had goats, a calf, and a pony in a petting area. Lydia squealed with excitement and was going from one animal to the next.

The pony kept sniffing her.

Then, before we left, we of course had to let the girls play in the corn pit. This was a definite highlight. Here's Karina jumping in.

 

The trip was a success and we were glad the weather cooperated since we only had two possible Saturdays to do it and today was cold (and we are dealing with colds this weekend). When we got home, the girls each got to decorate their pumpkins by coloring on them with markers. We are going to carve our other two pumpkins later this week.

We also scanned in our latest ultrasound pictures of our baby boy- this was the best picture we got printed.  None of the pictures were that great or clear. The head (in profile) is on the right, the torso in the middle, and a leg on the left. We are pleased to report that based on the anatomy ultrasound, we are expecting a healthy baby boy with no medical issues.
