Lydia likes commenting about Derek and his features. I think in this picture she was pointing out that "Derek has blue eyes, Mommy!"
The weather was comparatively cold and rainy most of the time Grandma and Grandpa were here, so we didn't get outside to play as much as we might have otherwise. Fortunately, Tanja had heard about a store that sold playhouses, and had their indoor showroom open so families could bring the kids in to try their stuff out for a cover charge. We went there, and the girls had a blast running around, climbing, swinging, jumping, etc. Here's Karina bravely climbing up a rock wall ladder.
Lydia and Grandma had fun on the swings and playing peek-a-boo.
Grandpa spent some time with Derek, who napped quite well with all the ambient white noise of kids running around and playing.
The girls liked swinging with us on one of the swings.
And Karina really liked pushing us on the swing.
The biggest attraction at the showroom was definitely the trampolines.
Tanja and I even got a chance to join them on a trampoline.
Bouncing is fun.
I even got the chance to pretend I was a kid again and swing on the bars. I was never really good at it as a kid - unfortunately, not much has changed.
The girls were thrilled to swing with Grandma and Grandpa.
Karina was excited to get a second birthday cake to share with Grandma and Grandpa. She and Lydia still had trouble blowing out all the candles in one shot.
We tried to take a lot of pictures, but we spent a lot of time renovating our main floor powder room. Thanks to Grandpa for the know-how, and Grandma for keeping the kids occupied, we succeeded in finishing it before they left, and we are very pleased with the results.
