Snoopy wasn't allowed on the tour we took of the castle (even though he is allowed in most restaurants, stores, trains, etc. in this very dog friendly country - more on that later), so after we took him down and figured out where the tour started and how long it would be before we could have the tour in English, we made the 10-15 minute hike back up the mountain and left him in the car. We returned with a few minutes to spare, and then took our tour where we saw old toilets, hunting rooms, weapons rooms, and other very fancy accessories and rooms. Unfortunately photography was not allowed, so we can't post any pictures from inside, but we were sufficiently impressed and convinced that the Eltz family was quite well off.

The castle is currently undergoing some renovations (hence the crane), but personally, I think Tanja is far prettier than the castle in the distance anyway.

I once entertained daydreams of being a knight - perhaps being in Germany among the castles gets me one step closer?
ooh! Thanks for the pictures! That castle looks beautiful and the pictures below of the homes are stunning! Thanks for the updates!
