Moving on Up

Karina has hit a couple milestones this last week. She is now officially done with size newborn clothes. I think a lot of this has to do with the size 1 diapers being so big that newborn clothes don't fit them, but she is genuinely getting bigger. This means a whole new wardrobe and new pictures that we will use to populate the blog in the next few months. Her 0-3 month outfits are cute, but honestly, some of them still look big on her.

Earlier this week (when she was still 6 weeks old) while she was enjoying tummy time in the gym, she managed to flip over onto her back. I don't know that she really knew what happened and she didn't seem that startled, but it was kind of exciting to see her reach a new milestone and prove she is getting stronger. She hasn't managed to roll over again since then, but I'm sure it's coming.

We still haven't managed to get a picture of her smiling. She smiles fairly consistently when she gets her diaper changed (yes, she actually enjoys it!), and at other random times during the day for brief moments. Our goal this week is to get a picture of her cute gummy grin.

We're also trying to figure out her hair color. Sometimes it has a reddish tint to it, and other times it's not clear if her hair is a shade of brown or of blond. We'll just have to wait until it's longer to know for sure.

A funny story while Tanja was at the dentist earlier this week, she was in the dentist's chair and managed to keep rocking Karina in her infant carrier with her foot the whole time the dentist was working on her.

There's not really much to report this week and we didn't take that many pictures. Mostly, we have just been trying to beat the heat. Here are a couple pictures we took this morning of Karina wearing one of her new summertime dresses. I think it's a testament to her good looks that she manages to actually look cute wearing orange!




This week should be interesting. I am heading back to work full time tomorrow. It has been great having the flexibility and support to be able to take leave and spend time with my family these last few weeks. We are also a little concerned about Snoopy - when we were getting ready for his evening walk yesterday, he couldn't put any weight at all on his rear right paw. He just had a vet appointment the day before and was fine on his Saturday morning walk, so something happened yesterday that has him hobbling. He went out for a shortened walk this morning and was limping slightly, but he thought he was well enough to run after a sniff or two, though he started limping more heavily again later in the day. We are imposing some level of rest and recuperation on him until he isn't limping anymore.

Anyway, that's been our week.
