Poor Snoopy

Poor little Snoopy doesn't feel well. He has been in and out of the vet all week and his white blood count, which indicates infection or inflammation, is really high and has gotten worse. He's on some strong antibiotics and pain killers and we are extremely worried about him. On Thursday he was at the vet all day on an IV and got x-rays and antibiotic injections. He hurts all over, is very stiff, at times trembles, eats very little (its a struggle to even get him to swallow his medication), sometimes has trouble breathing, had a fever earlier (that was luckily gone on Friday morning), had stinky urine this morning, and just looks sad. He seems to be responding a little to his medication so we are cheering him on, keeping constant watch over him. We were excited yesterday when he actually sought out attention and pets from us, instead of sitting there pathetically and in pain. Today he also wants attention and company so we are hopeful he's fighting whatever he has.

Karina will be two months old on Wednesday and reached the eight week mark yesterday. She also has a doctor's appointment Wednesday, and we're excited to find out how much weight she's gained (and dreading any side effects the vaccinations will have). To us she seems much bigger than before, but we'll find out definitively then. Anytime we/I take her to a store or anywhere else in public, the usual initial comment made by strangers is "she's tiny!" or "wow, she's so small!", etc, but I don't think she's that small anymore.

We were excited last Wednesday night when Karina slept through the night for the first time. We were even more excited after Thursday's encore performance. Of course, last night, she woke up twice during the night... Oh well, she's getting the hang of it step by step.

This picture shows some of the weight she has gained - we didn't even include the one we took that makes her chin look bigger than Jay Leno's (note: Nate inserted the Jay Leno comment):

We think we might be raising a fashionista - she really enjoyed looking at herself in the mirror earlier in the week:
