Miami: Part 1

We are now a couple days into our Miami vacation (and work trip for Nate), enjoying the company and weather. Karina's first airplane ride was a success and the lady sitting in front of us commented after we landed that she had been a 'good baby.' She slept half the ride and during the time she was awake, she simply loved the delicious plastic cups:

The plane trip was most traumatic for Snoopy - poor thing. Lucky for him he loves being at my parents' house because of the nice patio and yard, full of all the good sniffs that our townhouse yard doesn't offer him. Plus, since we are on vacation, Snoopy is allowed to sleep on our bed!

Karina likes her cozy little tent that we got her as a travel bed and has done well in it.

After a little bit of initial Stranger Danger, Karina has now decided that Mormor and Morfar are lots of fun. She has been constantly smothered with attention the last couple days, going from one person's arms to the next, with so many dances, songs, and coos to go with it. I'm not sure who is smiling bigger in this picture, Morfar or Karina. But I think maybe Morfar wins the prize for happiest grin:

The picture above was Friday morning when Karina woke up in a very smiley mood, ready to grin at the world.

Karina now has a bouncer and walker here in Miami, and even managed to move around a little in the walker. She seems to like it:

Her movement in the walker was accidental I think. It was because she was standing up so tall in an attempt to get the blue piece in her mouth, and then bam, she moved forward. Kind of fun.

Today was Karina's 6 month birthday!!! Happy Birthday Princess! She got to celebrate by eating solid food for the first time ever. We have decided to do Baby Led Solids and skip purees and cereal all together. Unfortunately Nate got home so late from his Saturday class that she didn't get to taste her food until nearly 7 pm. This was really late for her as she is asleep by 8 pm every night. She was pretty cranky and tired before her food celebration started. Her first taste was sweet potato. We weren't really expecting her to eat anything since we aren't putting the food in her mouth, but letting her do it herself, but I think maybe she did swallow a tiny bit. It was fun to see her put the sweet potato in her mouth and taste the flavor though.

Poor baby:

She'll probably try sweet potato again tomorrow and later in the week we will move on to avocado and banana.
