Merry Christmas

Karina hasn't been sleeping well the last few nights. If she were older, I would just blame it on excitement for Christmas and Santa Claus. Right now, I think the more logical explanation is her teeth are coming in. She has one on the bottom that has fully broken through the gums, and it looks like its neighbor isn't far behind.

We have discovered her new favorite food - bananas and avocados mushed together. Avocado was one of her first foods and she seemed to really like it then, but when we got her some a few weeks ago, she thought they were disgusting. Tanja researched online and found some parents were mixing avocado with banana, so we decided to give that a try. It was a huge success (and a huge mess)!

We took a few pictures of her this morning playing with the wrapped presents. She enjoyed it, as you can see.

She has reached the eight month old mark and is quite active. She still hasn't figured out crawling forward yet, but she is quite proficient at pushing herself into a sitting position. That's how I found her in her crib early this morning, sitting up in the corner, just babbling away and excited to have someone in her room to pay attention to her. We are thinking that we need to lower her crib mattress now to make sure she doesn't stand up and push herself over the edge of the crib railing. Especially since this morning while I was down on the floor with her, she managed to push herself into a standing position holding onto me for balance. I was quite startled by that. We attempted to get her to do it again for the camera to some success - she's didn't get all the way up like she did at first, but it was still impressive.

And then the excitement of the moment became too much for her to bear. Oh well...

Anyway, we hope everyone has a merry Christmas and enjoys this holiday season.
