Cherry Blossoms Usher In Spring

I took the afternoon off on Friday so we could make our pilgrimage to see the blooming cherry blossoms in DC. It was a beautiful day to be outside. There were a lot of people that had the same idea we did, although because we went on a weekday, the crowds were likely smaller than they would have been during a weekend.

We took a lot of pictures, which probably worked to our advantage since Snoopy had plenty of breaks from walking and Karina got out of her stroller and into our arms where she could look around and take it all in. Because we took so many pictures, this post won't have a lot of explanation - it's best to let the images speak for themselves.

Here we are overlooking the Tidal Basin with the Jefferson Memorial in the background.

At the Tidal Basin looking at the Washington Monument.

Karina and I having fun.

Tanja and the blossoms both looking pretty.

Me with the new Martin Luther King Memorial in the background. Since this is the newest addition to the National Mall area, the trees there aren't as mature. It should be even prettier in future years when the trees grow bigger and have more blossoms.

Karina was getting pretty tired toward the end, so we put her in the Ergo. She is a good sport, but sometimes I wonder if our adventures are a little too long for her. Here she is with Tanja against one of the Japanese pagodas with the Jefferson Memorial in the background.

All of us together.

Other pictures from the day.

Karina flying through the air and loving this adventure.
