Harper's Ferry, West Virginia

Yesterday we took advantage of the National Park Service's Free Parks Week and went to Harper's Ferry National Historic Park in Harper's Ferry, WV. It's a site of a Civil War battle, a pilgrimage location for the Civil Rights effort, and home to historic buildings and people with period costumes. We had fun and were grateful the weather held out without raining on us more than a few drops while we were there.

Here I am with Karina, Snoopy, and a recreated 42-foot row boat right at the junction of the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers (the center of the historic Lower Town portion of Harper's Ferry).

We took a small hike through an old farm that was part of the Civil War battle.  Karina was really cute and there were a lot of wildflowers in the surrounding forests.
