A Father's Day Weekend to Remember

After one night (Friday) in the hospital, we were ready to come home on Saturday. Ironically, hospitals are probably one of the worst places to rest and recover because of all the noise, nurses and doctors coming in and out, and generally uncomfortable furniture. It took a while for Lydia to be cleared for discharge.  We took advantage of the time to take a few more pictures.

Lydia got buckled up in the car seat and was eager to get moving (or maybe we were simply projecting our own feelings onto her).

Karina was extremely excited to have Lydia home (with us too of course). She continually petted her soft hair and cooed, "Hi, baby sister!"

Morfar spent as much time with his granddaughters as he could before his flight left.

Sunday was Father's Day - it was definitely one to remember between the new baby and the new house. Karina and I went to church at the old ward, and then went to the old house so we could clean and bring another load of stuff to the new house. I'm glad we wound up having a window of a few days to move things out. Our old house sold quickly, so we didn't need to make any double mortgage payments while carrying both houses, which is great. We finished closing on the old house today, so we are clear of it. It was a good starter home for us, but we were outgrowing it, and so it was time to move.

The wise counsel I have heard is that one shouldn't make more than one life change at a time. We wound up making three between buying and selling a house and having Lydia join the family. It has been stressful, but we felt we had to make an offer on the house we wanted when we found it since nice homes were selling so quickly. I wouldn't want to do it again, but looking back, I don't really have any regrets about making these major choices.

Karina is enjoying having a new house to play in. She was being silly with some of the old Easter decorations after we unpacked them earlier.

We went to Five Guys for a burger earlier this week and Karina and I started dancing to Little Richard's Tutti Frutti. We had fun.

Karina loves having a baby sister.  She has taken it upon herself to "teach" Lydia how to do various things.  Lately, they have started to "play" together in the play gym.  I guess it is someplace soft to lay down, and Lydia doesn't seem to mind having company.
