And More Visitors

My brother Aaron came to the East Coast for some training for his job and we got to spend some time with him. We went to Annapolis and wandered around last Saturday. He checked into his class on Monday, and we were planning on hiking some of the trails around his training site. We were sorely disappointed though. Aaron had called the hotel on the campus and asked if dogs were allowed on the trails and was assured they were. However, when we got there, the security guard at the entrance took one look at Snoopy and told us in no uncertain terms that he was not welcome there. I was incredibly irritated! We should have just turned around and went for a hike and then returned to drop Aaron off, but we wound up dropping him off and then exploring after an abbreviated goodbye. Fortunately, we did take a few pictures before then.

We took a walk along the C&O Canal that runs along the Potomac River for 184.5 miles (obviously, we only walked along a mile or two of that). Here's a view down the tree-covered path.

Here are some pictures along the river.

And from an overlook that was underneath a bridge.

Karina is such an adventurer.

Then we went to do a quick tour of Antietam National Battlefield, home of the Civil War battle. It was the bloodiest day in battle that Americans have ever fought. These pictures were taken in a little park area that is along a creek that served as a big turning point in the battle. It is a lot more peaceful there now.
