Mommy Wow! I'm a Big Kid Now!

Pretty annoying that the lyrics to a diaper jingle from at least a decade ago (referenced in the title of this post) are taking up valuable storage space in my brain that could be used for more substantial information (like sports statistics). Oh well, I guess it's useful because as of yesterday, Karina is out of newborn diapers and into size 1. We didn't really do this because she was ready for the transition and had outgrown her newborns, we simply ran out and decided she could wear the next size up. Size 1 claims that it is for babies from eight to fourteen pounds, and since we have an eight pound baby now, I guess she is within range. That being said, these diapers look absolutely huge on her and the fasteners end up overlapping. We're hoping that she will be heavy enough for size 2 diapers within the next 270+ diaper changes (the boxes come in 276 count) so we won't have to get another box of size 1's.

In other news, we are elated with our recent addition of baby paraphernalia that we bought off of Craigslist this week. Karina is the proud owner of a baby swing that has given us the long awaited naptimes that she is supposed to take. It is so wonderful to get her calm and then put her in the swing to get rocked to sleep and I think Karina enjoys being in there at least half of the time. She spends her awake time with Mommy and Daddy or in her gym or the bouncer.

And when it is time for a nap, we wrap her up in a straitjacket (technically it's a Swaddle Me blanket that Tanja's mom got us) and into the swing she goes!

Yesterday for Memorial Day Weekend we went to a BBQ at a local park and took a nice walk around the pond/lake there.

We went to church today and Karina was quite fussy. We knew that last week's peace and quiet was too good to last, but at least she was adorable in her denim dress (that looks too big for her).

I know that she doesn't have the fine motor skills yet to really control her hands and arms, but if this isn't a wave, I don't know what is!
