One of the items that had not been checked off our list was the bathroom light fixture that we determined was a bit of an eyesore. Tanja investigated behind the fixture in our master bathroom yesterday to see the size of the hole we needed to cover - we were absolutely not planning on doing anything about it for a while. Three-week-old newborns and home improvement projects don't mesh well. Tanja just wanted to see what we were dealing with for future reference. Unfortunately, the bolts that were holding the fixture to the wall were being held by spring loaded anchors that we couldn't re-engage and there were huge holes where the bolts went into the wall that made it impossible to secure the fixture back to the wall. The end result is that we decided it was necessary to replace the master bathroom light fixture sooner than anticipated. A trip to Walmart and a few hours later, the power was switched back on in our bathroom and we had a functioning (and much brighter) light fixture! I managed to do it without shocking myself once, so I guess that is success.
Anyway, here's what the fixture looked like before (the picture is from the other bathroom, but the light fixture is the same):

And here is our new one:

I think it looks better (even though we weren't planning on replacing it yesterday).
And since we are not allowed to make any blog posts without including a picture of Karina until she has reached at least her first birthday (I read that in the Terms of Service or was ordered that by some of her adoring fans - lack of sleep leaves the source of that rule a little foggy), here is our baby girl bravely caressing our ferocious beagle.
