Visit from Grandma and Grandpa

My parents came to meet Karina and help us take care of various projects around the house. It has been great having them around and they have loved playing with Karina (at least when she was being cute and cuddly). The first project we tackled was repairing our living room ceiling fan. It had stopped working shortly after we moved in (after I had "repaired" the light fixture below it by tightening some bolts). The mess of wires was too daunting of a task for me, so I called Super Dad to the rescue. He looked at it for a little after taking it apart, determined that the motor had basically run out, so the repair job became a replace job. After a trip to Lowe's and a little bit of work, we had a fully functioning ceiling fan again! The breeze is an excellent option on these hot summer days, and as a bonus, the fan has become one of Karina's favorite playthings! She is mesmerized by the circular motion as evidenced in this picture (with a proud Grandma holding her):


We also spent an evening assembling a patio table that we got on a good sale. With our patio chairs, mosquito-net equipped gazebo, and our new table, we are fully equipped for outdoor dining. My parents also enjoy the nightly show the fireflies put on in the woods off of our back yard. I think this set up will serve us well.


Karina got all dressed up in her formal wear (polka dot shorts and a white onesie with ruffles that resembles a tuxedo shirt) to play and go out for lunch. I love her smiles and laughs:



We were told by the HOA during the last inspection that we needed to clean some mildew/mold off of our siding. Unfortunately, it went up to the top of our three story townhome. Lacking a ladder, we weren't sure how we would manage this. Well, we found a great deal on a really nice ladder, and I now feel like a real man with one more tool and symbol of masculinity - my very own ladder! Of course, Dad is the one who climbed up on it risking life and limb to clean the siding and our gutter.



Karina has been ordered by the pediatrician to endure 30 minutes of tummy time per day. Usually we have put her in her gym and let her scream, but Grandma lays Karina down on her lap with a new toy (gift from Grandma) to look at and tummy time is slightly more tolerable.


On Sunday, we blessed Karina in church. She wore a beautiful dress that my Mom made for her. Take a look at some of the pictures we took of her.
